1. The Fac­to­ries em­ploy­ing more than 1000 work­ers are re­quired to sub­mit their plan for ap­proval to Chief In­spec­tor of Fac­to­ries.



2. A weekly hol­i­day was in­tro­duced in the Fac­to­ries for the first time in the year 1923.




3. Un­der the Sec­tion 41A of the Fac­to­ries Act, the Site Ap­praisal Com­mit­tee shall be con­sti­tuted once in Once in 5 Year  un­der the chair­man­ship of Chief In­spec­tor of Fac­to­ries.




4. To close down a fac­tory, the oc­cu­pier has to give 60 Days  no­tice to the au­thor­i­ties. 



5. The pe­ri­ods of work of adult work­ers in a fac­tory each day shall be so fixed that no pe­riod shall ex­ceed five hours and that no worker shall work for more than five hours be­fore he has had an in­ter­val for rest of at least half an hours. 



6. The pe­riod of work of an adult worker in a fac­tory shall be so arranged that in­clu­sive of his in­ter­vals for rest un­der sec­tion 55, they shall not spread over more than ten and a  hours in any day:



7. No woman shall be re­quired or al­lowed to work in any fac­tory ex­cept be­tween the hours 6 A.M. and 7 P.M.



8.  No child shall be em­ployed or per­mit­ted to work in any fac­tory for more than four and a half hours in any day.



9. As per sec­tion 111 of the Act, if any worker em­ployed in a fac­tory con­tra­venes any pro­vi­sion of this Act , he/she shall be pun­ish­able with fine which may ex­tend to 500 ru­pees.



10. The Fac­to­ries Act, 1948 re­quires the ap­point­ment of the ‘Safety Of­fi­cer’ in fac­to­ries em­ploy­ing at least 1000 work­ers.



11. Sec­tion 49 of the Fac­to­ries Act deals with ap­point­ment of Wel­fare Of­fi­cers.



12.Ap­point­ment of Wel­fare Of­fi­cer un­der Fac­to­ries Act, 1948 is compul­sory where 500 em­ploy­ees are em­ployed. 



13. Creche is manda­tory un­der the Fac­tories Act where 30 women  work­ers are em­ployed



14.Safety Of­fi­cers are to be ap­pointed if Or­ga­ni­za­tion is en­gag­ing 1000 or more em­ploy­ees.  



15. Can­teen is to be pro­vided if en­gag­ing Em­ploy­ees more than 250 per­sons. 



16.Leave with wages is al­lowed for em­ploy­ees if they work for 20 days in a month.  



17.Wel­fare Of­fi­cers are to be ap­pointed if Or­ga­ni­za­tion is en­gag­ing 500 or more em­ploy­ees.  


18.The Am­bu­lance Room is to be pro­vided If en­gag­ing em­ploy­ees more than 500.  



19.The ob­jec­tive of the Fac­to­ries Act 1948  is to en­sure ad­e­quate safety mea­sures and to pro­mote the health and wel­fare of the work­ers em­ployed in fac­to­ries.



20. The Fac­to­ries Act 1948 ex­tends to Whole of In­dia in­clud­ing Jammu & Kash­mir 



21.Sec­tion 2(a) of the Fac­to­ries Act 1948 de­fines 'Adult'.



22. Sec­tion 2(c) of Fac­to­ries Act 1948 de­fine child as a per­son who has not com­pleted his 15 th year of age.



23.Sec­tion 2(m) of the Fac­to­ries Act 1948 de­fines 'fac­tory'.
